Keep Woodland Park Beautiful announced its 23rd annual city-wide cleanup event will take place on June 21. This year’s event is held in partnership with Apex Waste Solutions of Teller County.
As part of Keep America Beautiful’s nationwide initiative, the Greatest American Cleanup, the group’s goal is to unite the community to clean, green, and beautify our local parks, public spaces and waterways.
This effort is a part of the broader mission to prepare America for its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, by removing 25 billion pieces of litter and beautifying 25,000 communities across the nation.
Woodland Park’s annual city-wide clean-up has been a longstanding project for the committee as a part of its mission to reduce litter and promote responsible handling of waste in and around the city. The cleanup has welcomed the assistance of hundreds of volunteers over the years, donating their time to pick up accumulated trash in parks, schools, neighborhoods, and alongside roadways.
“We’re excited Woodland Park will be taking part in the Greatest American Cleanup as Americans come together to celebrate this important milestone in our nation’s history,” said Sarah Horwood, Keep Woodland Park Beautiful committee member. “We invite everyone in Woodland Park to join us for what will be the largest cleanup and the largest community-led action project in history.”
On June 21, volunteers will meet at Memorial Park, with check-in starting at 8:30 a.m. The cleanup activities will commence at 9 a.m. and continue until noon. After the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to enjoy complimentary food and refreshments, which will be provided until 1 p.m.
“We encourage all residents, community groups and local organizations to join us in this significant endeavor,” the group said in a press release. “Your participation is crucial to the success of this event and the ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and green Woodland Park. Together, we can make a substantial impact and ensure a more beautiful future for our city.”
Apex Waste Solutions of Teller County is contributing to the cleanup event with an exclusive opportunity for Woodland Park residents. From 10 a.m. to noon on June 29, folks can bring trash and items to be recycled for drop-off at the Transfer Station in Divide.
